| Have a little bday money and was thinking of upgrading my original Primary Arms red dot (would actually move that to a backup rifle). Both the Aimpoint Prod and P.A. Advanced micro dot have super long battery life…like 3yrs. While the P.A. is similar in size and look to some of the more expensive Aimpoint models, it is different in size (smaller) then the Aimpoint Pro. Not talking price difference here, but functional and ease of usage…does anyone know how these differ? The Pro looks to have bigger glass and longer tube…does that give it an advantage…field of view, eye relief, faster targeting? BTW, I have an A.D. raiser mount already which would work on the P.A.. |

I have the Primary Arms MD-ADS and an AimPoint PRO.
I love the PRO. It has been flawless since I got it a year ago and I believe the battery is rated to 3 years. It's been on since April 2014 and still works and holds zero. It is solid and hands down a great optic. It isn't too heavy, but is heavier than their smaller ones IE T1. The eye relief is great and is easy to get on target and to keep on target. I don't see any distortion with the glass either. I ordered the Primary Arms MD-ADS last Saturday and received it on Tuesday. Took it out of the box and the red dot disappears and blinks on and off. I contacted Primary Arms and spoke with one of their CS personnel and they quickly told me that they would be sending me a replacement and a return label. That said, I wouldn't knock this solely on this as it can happen to anything you purchase that is electronically operated. I would say that CS experience was by far the best I've ever experienced. They do stand by their products so I'm not sweating it one bit and will be purchasing from them in the future. I know AimPoint is a superior brand, but wouldn't think twice getting a Primary Arms for any of my rifles. Not sure how many rifles you have or plan on getting, but you could outfit 3 for the price of 1. |
| Unless it's a duty weapon I would go with the PA AMD. I've had the original PA for years and just recently bought the PA AMD. I'm happy with it, it has a improved sight window, you don't see part of the emitter you see in the original. I like the push button control. |
