Has anyone put 45 degree iron sights on an AR15 with an AIMPOINT Comp-M4 Red-Dot between the sight (Co-Witness)?

Has anyone put 45 degree iron sights on an AR15 with an AIMPOINT Comp-M4 Red-Dot between the sight (Co-Witness)? I have purchased 2 sets now that are too short. It seems no one uses dimensions anymore. Any money saving advice will be appreciated. Otherwise I guess I will have to find a way to measure to the center of my Aimpoint and somehow translate that to Iron Sights. Use the Comp-M4 correctly, use regular sights, and stop trying to do something stupid with your rifle. That'll save you more than just money. |

So you are trying to put a Comp M4 on a 45 degree mount and use it as a back up? And then mount offset irons as a back up to the back up? Don't really understand this but I guess you can do what you want.
I would think the mounting system of the Comp M4 has more to do with the inability to cowitness than the height of the iron sights. Whatever mount you are using is probably made to be the correct height for the normal AR15 sights...not the offset sights which are made to be lower profile. ETA:I'd love to see some pics of this when you get it done. |

What offset mount are you using for the Aimpoint?
I did something similar with a Trijicon RMR and had to use the JP Rifles offset mount to make it work. http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPROS

Well you are over-thinking this. Batteries run down so I don't want to have to remove the aimpoint if that happens. See my description above and I will take a pic of my gun and post it. But it is not unusual to have alternate sights mounted on the strong side of a rifle at an angle for competition. I think I will just calculate the height and make a pair of 45 degree brackets for the flip-up iron sights. Let me see if I have permission to upload a photo |

I am 6'2 and 225. I carried much heavier while running. What is wrong with having one gun that covers everything up to 400 yards if you are man enough to use it? I have a 1911 on my hip and a 32 in my ankle when we are playing, too. Hasn't slowed me down yet and we have about 80 acres next to the BLM forest. Maybe you are doing too little with your gun and just cannot relate?? lol It's relatively easy to cover everything from 0 to 600m with a 4x ACOG all by it's lonesome. It's got nothing to do with "being man enough to use it" and has everything to do with actually understanding what's needed to fill a certain role, without slapping 15lbs of crap on your rifle.

Fuck that shit. Put a Delta Point or at least nothing bigger than an Micro on that. Comp M4 is WAAAY too big. That's not even a Comp M4 in his picture, and I'm pretty sure it's not even a real Aimpoint considering I've never seen a real Aimpoint illumination dial have numbers on it. My guess is at best a Primary Arms Aimpoint Clone, and at worst an airsoft RDS. |
| It's hard to tell by the pic, but are those hk style buis? If so, that's why they are too low. Also, I can't seem to be able to find any listed dimensions, but the 45 degree offsets from Diamondhead seem to stand out further than what you have mounted in that picture. |

TurbineGuy: Well I don't like being called stupid by someone with your level of ignorance so I will just ignore you I didn't call you stupid, but then again, it seems you are the kind of person that should be required to take an IQ test to own a firearm. And to breed. And to use oxygen. Too bad I didn't get to see this operator's rifle before he got pussy sore and stomped away like a little girl. |
