| Anybody have experience with them? Been looking for a reasonably priced scope and I'm leaning towards primary arms. |
|
My sample of 1 does what it's supposed to do. Holds zero well. Shoots the box well enough and returns to zero.
It is clear but not as bright as higher dollar optics. Lighted reticle is very usable and is great for low light shooting (not too bright on the lowest setting like many others). I have shot to 700 yards with it using both the built- in hold overs and by dialing it up. I'm very pleased. Mine is on an AR and I have fired a few hundred rounds with it at ranges from 25 yards to 700. Most of those rounds were between 100 and 500. I'll answer any specific questions I can. Edit... Mine is the 4-14 variety |
| I have the 4x Prism variety. Love it. Clear glass for what it is, and I don't find the reticle to be cluttered at all. Can also see the reticle without illumination in case the battery goes out on you. Only shot it to 170 yards, but dead on. Primary Arms is a great value for what you spend. |

| I've got one of the 1st gen versions. Of course there are better scopes out there. I really like mine. I bought it for my M&P10 and it ended up on my 16 inch AR. I worked great on both out to 500 yards. You're not going to find anything with similar features for the price. David |

I have the 1-6 ACSS on an 18" AR build and it is very accurate. The glass is pretty clear on 1-4, but 5-6 it seems to be less clear (this is looking at 100yd +)
I also have the 4-14 ACSS .308 on my .308 ar build and it is very clear at all powers (of course you can adjust the parallax) |

I have not used the PA 1-6, but I have a PA 1-4 and their 4-14 ACSS. The PA scopes are rugged and solid. They hold zero well even with rough use.
I also have the CMR and it is equally robust but the glass is exceptionally clear and bright. The reticles of the CMR and ACSS are equally usable and very similar. The exposed turrets of the older CMR (Gen 1) are far too easily moved by accident, but the newer model has covered turrets to fix that. In my opinion... Reticles - equal Robustness - equal Optical quality - CMR (based on my experience with PA's other scopes) Obviously the 1-6 PA has the advantage in power over the 1-4 CMR. My recommendation...Get both! |

If you had to pick between the PA 1-6 and ADM mount for 400 or the Leatherwood CMR with same mount for 450 which would you choose? Is the CMR worth 50 bucks more? Go to SWFA they have a combo deal with the first Gen CMR that has a mount 2 black pmags for under 350 bucks IIRC. You can resell the swfa mount and buy an adm mount. |

I just took delivery of the 4x prism scope offered by Primary Arms. It is heavy and appears to be well built (judging by the weight). I like the reticule as well. That being said, the glass is not as clear as my ACOG or as clear as my Zeiss conquest. The field of view is too narrow for me as well. BUT, the PA scope did not cost anywhere near as much as the Zeiss or the ACOG.
My planned/primary use for the PA scope is hunting. I think it will be fine for that during daylight hours, but will not be able to compete w/ the ACOG or the Zeiss in low light/evening or morning conditions. I bought the PA scope after realizing my Zeiss is a bit too long for my M4gery Grendel (did not ride well slung across my front or my back while riding a snow machine on the tundra). My intent was to replace the Zeiss with a more compact scope that still was capable of reaching out to 300 yards or so and performed well in low light conditions. Additionally, I prefer a wide field of view over higher magnification, unfortunately the field of view on the PA 4x prism scope isn’t as wide as I would like for it to be. At any rate, I’ll probably hang on to the scope but I doubt I will use it in a hunting applictation. |
