Im in the market to pick up an RMR.  My first use will be as an offset sight on my precision AR, but its true home will be on a Glock 19 when I pick one up.

There are a lot of choices and I could use some input on what is what.  Specifically ar there ones that are better than others for any particular reason?

Are you planning on dual use and zeroing it each time?

I'd avoid the dual illumination. If you're in a low light area there might not be enough light to glow the fiber optic but not dark enough to glow the tritium so you could end up with a dim dot.

Ok thanks.  No the AR is just a home until get the Glock.  I'd get the Glock first, but Ive got Amazon $$ to spend and Im halfway to the RMR already.

I have dual illumination Trijicon RMR (RM08G).  I found that it was the wrong one to go with IMHO.

Get the battery powered, adjustable LED one.  It is a MUCH better setup.  The brightness adjusts automatically or you can override that function and change it via buttons.

I have the RM06.  It has the smallest (3.5 MOA) dot, and has adjustable brightness.  I haven't used it much, but am happy with it when I do.  I've got it in a LaRue Tatical LT788 Mount on a Bushnell ET 6-24x G2DMR FFP optic on top of my OBR 7.62

ETA:  The battery life is pretty long...don't know exactly, but haven't changed it yet.

ETA2: I've had no problem picking up the dot in broad daylight

I would go with the RM01 non-adjustable 3moa LED.

I have a RM02 6moa on a Glock 19 and I find I prefer a smaller dot.

I prefer the self adjusting models because my experience is they are pretty much always on the right level and that some people have reported accidental adjustment while concealed carrying with the manually adjustable models.

Also if it will see long gun use I think a small dot works better in that role too.

RM06 is what I use on two pistols. This model is the most suggested if a little research is done.

Thanks for all the feedback.  This is exactly what I was looking to find out.

OP:  What scope and scope mount are you presently running on the AR?  That will suggest the field of mounting options available for the RMR.

I did a lot of research on this very subject prior to purchasing an RMR for my pistol (Sig P226).

There is a lengthy thread (40 plus pages) over on Lightfighter on the subject of red dot optics on
pistols. The majority of folks getting RMRs seemed to be buying the RM06 model. That is what I decided to get.

I had a place called L&M Precision Gunworks (located in NC) do the install. They have a package deal that included the RMR sight, all
machine work, and installation (to include suppressor-height back-up night sights). They will also install customer supplied sights.

The only issue being experienced by some Trijicon RMR users is the dot occasionally cutting off due to weapon recoil/slide movement.

The remedy for this is to bend the battery contact tabs and/or replace the battery (variances in battery thickness means one might get a slightly
thicker battery; resulting in firmer contact with the tabs).

^another common old school trick is to put some electrical tape on the slide where the RMR sits.  It becomes a bit of insulation for the battery and pushes it further into the contacts.

But it's better to put in a RM63 seal plate between the sight and slide:

I have the plate and the dot still went out on me. So, I bent the tabs and put a rubber 'o' ring under the battery. No problems since.
