So, Natchez had a sale a few weeks ago on Aimpoint optics and and I decided to jump on the new ACO. I've never purchased a good quality red dot and have made do with various Vortex and Bushnells. They've all been sufficient for my uses. However, i thought it was time to throw down the cash for an Aimpoint.
The first one I received from Natchez didn't have a visible dot for the first 4 clicks on the brightness knob. And, the last 5 clicks had huge jumps in intensity. Literally, the first visable click was around click 5 and it was barely visible in total darkness, then each of the next 4 doubled to the point where the brightest/last click was unusabley flared. I double checked the Aimpont website to confirm that the ACO had no NVD settings and it doesn't. So, I call Natchez and they graciously accept the return, with no hassles. Great folks. Well, just received the replacement and guess what....? Exact same thing. Literally, exactly the same. I've looked through/tried an Aimpoint PRO, M2/M3, and T1. All of them had the full stated range of NVD or daylight visible dot brightness settings. These 2 ACOs...fail! I'm not sure what to do next. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm leaning towards getting a refund and just getting a PA AMD with mount and using the rest of the money on other gear... Any wisdom from the AR15 brain trust? Thanks in advance, Cheers623 DVC |
| Aimpoint uses the same knob/gear mechanism in many of its optics, so on optics that do not have NV you will not see the dot for a few clicks. To see the lowest setting you will need to be in a dark room and let your eyes adjust. In conclusion there was nothing actually wrong with your ACO, but your really should have just spent your money on a PRO |
