For the new build I'm working on, I was considering putting a TR24 on it.  So far, the only magnified optic I own is an ACOG TA31F (Everything else I have is a red dot) so I was thinking that an adjustable power 1-4x TR24 would be interesting.  This will be used mostly for general range use and 2-gun at ranges out to 200 yards and maybe occassionally further.

What do you think of the TR24 for my intended uses?

I usually have some degree of "starring" with aimpoints or eotechs (and even with the illuminated chevron on my ACOG if its a bright day), if you've ever encountered the same, how does the triangle on the TR24 perform?  Does it "star" much for you?

What would you recommend for a mount?  Usually, I put everything on a Larue mount.  Do you like the Larue mount best for the TR24 or is there a better choice?

Thanks!

I think that'll be the perfect optic for your needs. You won't have a problem with blooming since it's an etched reticle.
For all my scopes, I've moved to the Aero Precision Ultralight Extended since they are much lighter than the QD mounts.

Mine is in an ADM Recon mount.  No 'starring".

The TR24 is a fine optic. I have a pretty bad astigmatism but never had any issues with my TR24. Reticle is crisp and sharp.

I've had good experience with both LT and ADM mounts.

Thanks for the responses :)

What is your advice/opinions/experience with the different reticles and different colors?

I've used both the Ger No. 4 and the triangle and like the triangle the best. The No. 4 would be more useful, if it had some MILs or a BDC but it's just an illuminated crosshair.
The green triangle is a little brighter at night vs the red.

For a mount go with a Bobro.  Everyone who tries one agrees that they are the best.

There are other very good mounts but Bobro is the best.

I think there are a couple 30mm on the EE right now too.

The TR24 in red triangle worked for me over the previous 3-4 years of 3 gunning so it should fit your need of range use and occasional 2 gun matches.  I've shot it out to 400-500 yds during matches and need to dial up but that didn't take more than some stage planning (which target to engage first before/after dialing the elevation).  The fiber optic window can be closes down during bright sun to eliminate the bloom effect (I actually prefer to shoot most of the stages with it closed off, YMMV).

I used to use AMD mount but have found GGG forward mount to be lighter and more streamlined, no QD mount for me since there is no need.

With all that said, TR24 is now old school, there are now better optics out there that might fit your needs better.

lol...figures.  Every time, by the time I get my money saved up for something...it has become 'old school'
