Just sold my Pro and am looking for a new RDS.
I had my mind set on a H1 2moa + AD Co-Witness mount. Running a 14.5 + 1.5 middy with flip down from and rears. Now that I have the cash for something new I am just not sure. Any opinon's would be great |

My take on the RDS:
Love them for what they are - CQB helpers. They allow quick acquisition and initial round on target with good follow-up round delivery. But you know this already. The reason I bring it up is this: is that what you are looking for? Are you engaging targets of the man-sized variety from 5-250+ yds? If so, RDS like the H1 makes sense. Consider also the Aimpoint M4/M4s - battery life is unparreleled. For the price of the H1 you could snag an EoTech 512 and a Primary Arms magnifier which will help with target ID to 300 yards or so, and the 1moa dot on the EoTech makes engagement a little easier perhaps (debateable). But if you are looking at 25-600+ yds, think of a nice Leupold or Vortex (or maybe Nikon) variable power scope, especially if you're thinking of engaging smaller than man-sized targets out at 600 yds. There are several high quality variable power scopes available to you at that price-point. So the end question is: what will you be doing with the sight? Tailor your purchase to fit your mission. Personally, I am not using my AR for anything besides range time/training and practicing for home defense, etc. So I run an EoTech on one cause I love the reticle and an Aimpoint PRO because of its constant on feature. Will be adding a magnified optic to one of my rifles so I have all bases covered. But I have two so I have that luxury. If I had one rifle, it would be an Aimpoint with a magnifier for me as it fits my mission most appropriately. YMMV joe |

The AR is used mostly for range time 25-100 yards and as a back up to my hand gun for home def. I have a burris 3x9 scope on QD mounts I slap on for anything over 100 yards or when working up new reloads.
I have tested a few EOtech's but they are all a huge star burst. I do have to wear glasses for driving at night so I figure that is a vision issue and not a sight issue. The aimpoint is still blurry but it is workable without my glasses on. The ACOG has none of this distort effect too my eyes but that is out of my price range atm. |
