Why would I buy a Comp M4 over a PRO?  Yes I get that they can use AA batteries, but what else?  It's not like my PRO eats batts on the reg.

What am I missing?  What makes them worth twice the price???

M4/M4S can use any AA-size battery regardless of voltage due to a built-in voltage regulator. The M4/M4S has the control knob physically disconnected from the switch to prevent impacts to the knob from damaging the switch. The M4/M4S' integral mount prevents impacts to the optic from rotating the optic within its mount.

All of this plus I paid less than $500 each for both of mine on the EE and they were LNIB.  80K hours is a long time too.

Sounds to me like pretty well no reason at all.  I haven't seen an Aimpoint that couldn't take a beating.  As far as batery life goes, a battery will only last 4 years in a PRO.  Seeing as I have 20 of them, I am 80 years good.

Just seems like they don't offer much, for twice the price.

ETA:  are they any bigger of a tube?  More field?

I would also pick one up for 500.

I've had both for years and I'd take a M4S over a Pro every time. But not for double the price. The M4 I don't care for at all looks wise. You can't tell a speck of difference looking through either. The dot and clarity look identical to me on M4/S and Pro. The M4/S has a nicer built in style mount and gets rid of the scope ring deal. It uses the easier to find battery which isn't a huge deal. Battery life is longer on M4/S but Pro lasts a long time. It also has a lot more brightness and night vision settings. Forget the exact number of settings but I thnk the M4/S has about 50% more. M4/S also has a harder to break indirect link settings switch .... comes with the ARD too. Also comes with a crap bikini cover instead of the Pro's nicer flip caps .... mismatched as they are. I put a clear front on my Pro to match the back. Pro is the deal money wise, but M4/s is better in several ways. Maybe $200 tops better .... not $400.
