Just got my 300 blk done! Now I'm looking for a scope. I've got it narrowed between two.. I'm looking at the nikon p-300 blackout and the nikon p-223 3x9x40. What are your opinions on which would work best? I'll mainly be coyote and deer hunting no farther than 300 yards.
Thanks guys!

I'm using a Leupold 1-4x20 with a 16" CMMG barrel, mounted on a Bell Arms Defense lower. I plan on using it for hunting also. I have it zero'd at 75 yards, and have been able to hit /12" cover dots at 115yds. I am very pleased with this scope and will be putting more in my collection.

I have the Primary arms 1-6 ACSS on my 300BLK 8" pistol.  This weekend after getting it 'near zero'd' at 100 yards (a 15 mph full wind blowing LtoR wasn't helping) I could pick off a coke bottle laying on its side at 100yds.

Going out to 500 yards and using the farthest left wind hold (wind had died down a bit) and 500 hold over my spotter estimated I missed the steel on my first shot by "less than 4-6 inches".  With a bit of correction I was able to hit 50% of the time.  So I felt good with my first trip to the range with this scope on my new 300BLK.  A great combination.

Scope is solid.  The reticle is borderline fool proof.  Glass is Very Good FOR THIS PRICE POINT.

I thought the same thing, then I found the Nikon Prostaff 5 2.5-10x40mm. It has finger adjustable turrets. It was $200 shipped from Amazon.

It works perfectly for me, 10rds @ 100yds of 125 SST

If you plan on shooting several different loads, the BDC will be useless, at least in my opinion.

I use a vortex 3x9-40 on my 16" .300.  Works great with an outstanding warranty.

I have a Vortex Crossfire 2 3-9x40 that has impressed me for the price.  I have a Vortex Viper HS 6-24x50 BDC reticle on the way for a new build. SWFA has a great deal on the same scope with the V-Plex for $399 if you like that reticle.

I have a couple of BDC reticled optics and wish I didn't as nice as glass as they are.  Unless you're shooting a round that has flight characteristics that are compatible with the hash marks it's a PITA for me personally to try to compensate.

I have a PA 1x6 ACSS on a run and gun build and like it although the turrets are ungodly mushy on my sample.  I keep thinking I should send it back for a look at by them but never seem to get around to it.  But it's on a 556 that I shoot milspec ammo through so it matches up.

For my 300BO I've just got a RDS on it for now, still trying to figure out glass.  So I'll be interested in what you end up with.   The tricky thing is I shoot both supers and subs so a dedicated 300BO reticle isn't in my future.  Although the Leupold with the split reticle is intriguing.  Hashes for super on one side, subs on the other.  I love the tortoise and the hare on the reticle as well.

But I'll likely just go with a standard mil/mil of some flavor.

Went ahead and ordered the Nikon p-300. I only shoot supers so from what I've heard the reticle works good if you are only on supers

Consider a mil/mil turret/reticle scope, so you are not locked into fixed BDC points that probably will not correspond to every type of round you chose to shoot.   A good basic choice would be the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 series, either the 1.5-4x20 or the 3-9x40mm.   These have milrad turrets and correspondingly marked reticles that let you dial in any ammo.  Much better than BDC reticles and 1/4" per click turrets.
