| I have a 3-9x40 scope that I want to mount on my AR but I am not sure which rings I need to have the best eye relief? I have a set now but I am not sure of the size and they are way too low. Do I need the "high" or "extra high" rings or a combination of rings? |
| You want a "cantilever one peice mount" designed for an AR. Lots of brands to choose from but Aero Precision makes a good one for ~$80. Most of these will put a scope's centerline about 1.4-1.5" above the rail which suits the average to large face or cheek well. |

Quoted:
49063 Weaver rings will work. Perhap for you, but not for most people. Those rings are not cantilevered and to get proper eye relief on most scopes the scope has to be moved forward. on an AR15. The location of the turret in most scopes prevents getting the front ring onto the top of the receiver once you move the scope forward to achieve proper eye relief. And putting ithe front ring out onto a quad rail or tube top rail section is NOT a recommended practice and can result in damage to your scope and difficulty holding zero. You want your scope attached only to your upper receiver top and nothing else. You need cantilever type rings or a one piece cantilever mount to do it right on an AR15. |
