Just noticing that my new Trijicon TRTA26SG-10 ACOG has splotchiness/defects outside of the view / scope shadow; as in light shines through the black outer ring in certain spots - the scope shadow is not a perfect black ring, it looks as if the coating was misapplied or something. Its a bit hard to explain.

Has anyone else ever noticed this before. Should the reseller replace it or do I need to goto Trijicon?

I had a TA47 (2X) that had something like that. The best I can explain is that in the black "ring" that is around the edge of the reticle (as you are looking through the scope) there were "chips" or broken sections of that black area. The reticle looked fine though. When I sent the scope back to Trijicon, to have the lamp checked, they replaced the whole unit free and the new one did not have the "chips". I still own 4 ACOGs of various models and none have the broken sections in the black ring.

However, all of my ACOG reticles, i.e. horseshoe dot etc, have imperfections, if you look very close, in certain lighting.

Trijjcon's customer service is excellent. They repaired the fiber optic tube on my TA31F that had some cracks even though I was the 2nd owner. Send it back to them. I am sure they will make it right.
