Hi guys, I just got a Primary Arms AA battery Multi Reticle red dot Gen 3. I like it. It seems solid. It's bigger than I thought it would be. I liked the fact you could use common AA batteries and the Call of Duty asshole in me really likes the idea of multi reticles.

A while back I bought a Sightmark SM13003B reflex sight for that reason (multi reticles plus Dunhams had them on sale plus a in store coupon I think I paid a little over 25 bucks for it. I really liked it, it was small and the reticles were crisp and clear. The only trouble is it would not hold zero (had it mounted on my 7.62x39 AR)

So I got the Primary Arms red dot, did I mention its big?....not heavy but bigger than I thought. So now I'm thinking of checking out the Burris Fast Fire 3 actually the (AR-F3). My rifles both have folding sights so I want absolute co-witness. http://www.burrisoptics.com/arf3.html

I already have an Eotech EXPS3-2 and G33 magnifier which I really like but I wanted a red dot for each rifle instead of switching all the time and I didn't want spend alot.

I've herd nothing but good things about Primary Arms so I figured I would try them. Did I mention the Multi is big? I know they have some micro red dots but I wanted the multi....heh....COD asshole. I still will keep it and use it I really like it (did I mention its big?) But I'm thinking about getting the Fast Fire (AR-F3).
So I guess what I'm asking is the guys here that have one, what don't you like about it? It says it has 3 brightness settings and auto. I herd auto dosen't work very well, so can you make it stay on one of the other 3 brightness settings? Is 3 brightness settings enough? How long do the batteries last? Does it eat batteries fast? Does it hold zero? Could I use the G33 magnifier behind it? I know I'll have the room, I even had the room with the Primary Arms multi (did I mention it was big?) But the problem was no matter how I focused the diopter on the magnifer I still could not get it clear....always had a blur to it. Thanks for your help.

Replying to my old thread:

It says it has 3 brightness settings and auto. (Yes this is true)

I herd auto dosen't work very well, so can you make it stay on one of the other 3 brightness settings? (Actually the auto brightness function works well. And yes you can lock it on any of the other 3 brightness settings.)

Is 3 brightness settings enough? (Yes for me it is.)

How long do the batteries last? Does it eat batteries fast? (Still don't know.)

Does it hold zero? (Yes!)

Could I use the G33 magnifier behind it? (Yes you can.)

I know I kept saying that the Primary Arms Multi is big, but I have found the perfect place place for it.......On my AK, it's perfect. It works well and looks right at home on it.

The PA AA multireticle red dot seems to be an attempt to copy the Lucid HD7, which is very rugged, rubberized, single smaller AAA battery, four reticle choices (all useful, no gimmicks), automatic dot intensity with manual over ride, auto shutoff after two hours.  Withstands shotgun recoil and stays zeroed. Been out for several years.  Great reputation, limited advertising budget.

Here is my HD7.
