Any love for 2-7x scopes? That leupold vxr patrol looks legit. Light weight too.

I don't see very many 2-7's out there on rigs. I would think it would be a pretty good all around optic.

I was feeling similar about a few 1.5 x 6 both the 1.5 x6s and 2 x 7s should gather more light at than the ever popular 1-4's most everyone is running. I've been a runner of irons and RDS (well 1 ACOG) on my ARs for ever and now I'm looking to scope one. I'm conflicted with all the love for the 1-4s and that tiny objective that does seems to work somehow.

I personally love a good 2-7.  That being said the problem with these scopes, at least for me ( I own and use a 2-7 at the moment) is the fact that there are other options that are slightly more versatile.

I am personally considering something along the lines of a 2-10, or perhaps 2.5-10/16.  Depending on price, quality, and weight.  The XTR2 in 2-10 flavor looks interesting to me.

Personally a 1-4 or the like is not much use to me.  I am not clearing houses or shooting matches that require any more speed that 2x can't do on the low end.  And I already have bad vision and I'm a little older every day, and the vision isn't going to get better.  Really looking to increase the magnification on the big end.

All that being said, the 2-7 or 2-8 scopes out there today are nearly perfect for the general "do it all" optic for an AR.  Especially if you consider an offset RDS in the mix.  Combine that with the fact that they are generally much less expensive to their 1-4 or 1-6 counterparts, and also save big weight over the higher mag stuff, and you have a very versatile optic.  I like them.

Would love to see companies really step up to the plate with some serious 2x-7/8x offerings like they do with their beloved 1-4/6s.

There is no 2-7x Patrol.  It is either 1.25-4x20 or 3-9x40.  I have the latter and like it a lot.

Leupold does make some very nice 2-7x scopes, however.  I have several on light weight bolt guns. And one with rimfire parallax on a very nice high end 22LR, Remington 541-S Custom.

You must be thinking of the 2-7x33 VX-R.  It is not a "Patrol", but has many of the same features.  Great choice for a 2-7x. It is of the same quality and construction as the VX-R Patrol scopes, but has capped turrets with 1/4" clicks rather than the exposed milrad turrets on the Patrols.  Glass quality is between the very good VX-2 and the excellent VX-3.

Leaning pretty heavily towards the VXR for my 6.8

I'm a huge fan of the 2x7 class of scopes and have a bunch of them on different rifles. I think they're terribly under-rated, but just about the most verstile setup out there.

I run a 2-7 on my 6.8 for hunting. It's just a redfield, so not high end, but I love the power range for hunting 0-200 yards.

I run a Redfield 2-7 Revolution on my AR.  Love it.

I like your setup.  The Nikon M-series scopes are nice and bright.  One piece tube too.  How do you like the Aero mount?  Looks very nice.  I sorta wish it had more forward cantilever to it, but it looks great mounted on your rifle and looks to be machined very well.  Great looking weapon sir.

Thanks

I really like the Aero mount.  It's light weight, well made, and has a very smooth profile.  Mine is the extended version.
