Ok I have an A2 carbine that I would like to swap out the upper receiver to a flat top model.

If I use a BUIS flip up sight on the flat top upper receiver, will I also need to change the front sight base to an F marked model to make it work correctly?

OR purchase a .040 taller front sight.

Yea; that will work. They are on the market.  I bought some for my M4 because when I zeroed the iron sights my front sight was almost out of the FSA.
