hello my fellow AR owners.
I looking for some recommendations on these two products. I'm looking into getting some optics. any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! |

Aimpoint has battery life that no other RDS can compete with. EOTech better field of view. Both are good sights I prefer EOTech but have 0 issues with Aimpoint and will recommend them also. Buy the one you like most and go. i dont get the field of view "benefit" with both eyes open, whatever is obstructed by one eye, is seen by the other |

If you want a nice, crisp, red dot as what you see when you look through the optic get the Aimpoint. If you want a crappy looking circle with a crappy looking dot in it then get the Eotech. ![]() Sounds like you need your crappy looking eyes checked out
My EOTechs (and eyes) are crystal clear |

sounds like both serve their purpose and you guys just reassured the facts.
Sound like I may end up getting both. I'll use the Aimpoint set up for my le6920 (battery life is awesome selling point) and Eotech on my second build with a shorter barrel for CQB. I read on another site that Army peeps lean more towards the Aimpoint and law enforcement go eotech. I greatly appreciate all the feedback. Thanks for posting my friends. Peace out my brothers. |

Never had a problem with my EOTech 512, though recently I did discover that the batteries leaked in it. I cleaned out the battery compartment and it still works. Yeah, you'll hear about the fuzzy ring, but I don't look at the ring when I'm shooting. Having said all that I want an Aimpoint too.
Get both as they say here on Arfcom. |
| I LOVE the EoTech reticle, but hate the fact that I've had 4 of them have the seals go bad and have to go back to the factory, 2 512's, a 511 and an XPS-2 which I hoped would be better than the previous models. I'll never own another one. If they were inexpensive and marketed as range toys it would be a different story. |

Shoot, I'd like an ACOG too but that price tag keeps me away from it! Quoted:

Buddy of mine said every one wanted Eotechs over Aimpoints over in the sand box. He claims every one would much rather have an ACOG than any red dot. Shoot, I'd like an ACOG too but that price tag keeps me away from it! Acog's are too pricy. |

Aimpoints equal battery life and reliability. eotechs equal lots of batteries and failures Unless the new eotech model has fixed their electrical glitches XPS series addressed these issues. Still not as great as battery life as Aimpoints, but it is nice using one battery type (123) for pistol, rifle & handheld lights and optic. |

I have all three and like all three. I have the aimpoint pro on an 8.5 inch pistol , the eotech on a 16 inch carbine and a ta31f acog on my 6940 colt . If I could only have one then I would keep the acog but to answer your question you need to try both and decide what you like I bought a dozen cr123 the other day I think they run 20.00 per dozen but I also have a light that runs off 123 batteries . I also ordered 2 spares for my aimpoint I hope they dont go bad before I need them |

AIMPOINT: Bombproof, best in class battery life, less cluttered reticle
EOTECH: Some prefer the reticle for CQB, used by SMU's, plagued by short battery life and failures I don't have a lot of trigger time with the Eotech, but I did not prefer its reticle, and after all the constant reporting I've seen of failures and battery life problems, it's just not worth it for me. That said, a lot of people who are paid to shoot people use them, especially if doing CQB. The flip side of that is that those units can get new ones at the drop of the hat when they break. I think the Aimpoint T-1 2MOA dot is second to none. |
| Both make great optics. But I would stick with the newer EoTechs since it solved a lot of the battery issues that the N Cell ones were having. Battery life is really a non-issue since you are still talking about 600-1000 hours with the EoTech. Yeah having 50k hours with an Aimpoint is awesome, but it breeds a complacency in you equipment. You should be checking your gear every time you pick it up regardless....and if this is your bump in the night gun all it takes is one little press of the EoTech button and you are ready to rock. |

I have an EOTech EXPS3 and two Aimpoints -- a CompM4 and a PRO. If I could have only one it would be... thinking... still thinking... the EOTech EXPS3 by the smallest of margins. While the legendary battery life of the M4 is almost unbelievable, it ultimately comes down to use -- and that magical Holographic picture window on the EXPS3 is nothing short of amazing. I take the EOTech to my carbine classes and use the M4 only as backup. The EXPS3 is noticeably faster to acquire targets and doesn't get in the way nearly as much as the Aimpoint. I'm always looking "around" the M4 when scanning, whereas the EXPS just melts into the sight picture.
Also, the "Holographic Weapon Sight" (HWS) on the EOTech is a marvel, whereas Aimpoints use a simple red LED. If you get the chance, take a weapon with an HWS mounted. Find a target that is roughly the same size as the extremities of the halo. Now, move the weapon / sight forward and backward. It will LOOK like the reticle / halo is getting larger and smaller inside the window, but in reality it maintains the same size relative to the target. It messes with your head a little. It's pretty cool technology, and is definitely faster in every CQB engagement than any Aimpoint. If the EXPS didn't exist I would think that nothing is better than Aimpoint, but the EXPS just kills it during actual, under-pressure targeting. Hands down. |
