So I always liked the look of this sight, but thought vortex horribly missed the price point on them. Well cabelas is selling them for only $279 for black Friday. Has anyone used them. Video reviews on line seem to fancy them, and it seems to handle some pretty big drops and impacts, but I want to get peoples opinions. I know that people out there have mixed views on vortex so I'm looking for those who have actually used it.

Is that for the mini red dot?  If so thats a great price.   I still wouldn't use one of a rifle that you expect will get banged around much.

It came out after I already had a mini red dot (I have a FadstFire II).  I've read that the Vortex is a very robust sight, and form what time I have spent with it, it seems to be up to the high standards of the other Vortex products.

I imagine I will own one in the near future, Leopold's Deltapoint is out of my price range.  Plus, I have no need for the motion-sensing on/off on the Leupold, and I can't warm up to the shape of the window.

I do recall that the dot in the Vortex was sharper to my eye than the dot on my FastFire II.

Even at that price, I'd have a hard time justifying it when you can get a Fastfire III with an extremely robust steel mount for less. Optics and build-quality wise they seem to be in the same league, and I never had any gripes with the fast-fire. The ARF3 mount looks like crap, but offers significant protection.

Thanks guys, especially you Mark. Those pictures remained me at just how small this thing is, and its nice to hear that the dot is crisp. At all most $500.00 everywhere, I could never justify checking it out but $279.99 is a much more stomachable idea.

Where are you seeing that Cabela's will have them at $280?  I can't find that anywhere, unless you know something...

Thanks!  I guess I skipped over that and already threw it out.  I was waiting for a Sparc deal, but may go for this instead.

I'm looking at one to replace my Fastfire 3, which was a good optic until the emitter window developed a chip and I managed to crossthread the battery lid. Doh!

Im hoping the vortex is more duable than the fastfire.  I like it's battery compartment and illumination buttons more than the fastfire, and it takes a standard CR2032 battery in a tray that doesnt have threads to strip.
