I recently bought this scope from opticsplanet.com and having some issues. Just trying to see if this scope is like this or I got two lemons!
Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 Riflescope with TMCQ MRAD Reticle The problem is: at night, the vertical mil divisions are not visable with illumination. I can see the big vertical line, but not the small division lines! The problem is only on the vertical mil divisions, the horizontal ones are fine. I spin the scope 90º, the problem spins 90º as well. I have tried different illumination settings, focus, and magnification. The problem still exists. My friend and my wife all tried and confirmed that it is the scope not my eyes. I thought I have a bad one, so I exchanged one from opticsplanet.com The new one has the same issue! I forgot to write down the S/N of the first one so I can't tell if they just shipped the first one right back. I wonder if yours look the same. Trying to decide if I want a refund from opticsplanet.com or contact vortex. Not trying to bad mouth about any vendor or brand, actually, it is very smooth to do business with opticsplanet.com. And I love everything else on the scope except this issue. It does bother me! Thank you for your help. |

Thanks for the explanation. I checked the pictures on the website one more time, yeah, only dot and broken circles are red. How can I not notice this!!
Now I feel that all the lines that I see under illumination are bonus feature for the money. I also wished the LED is positioned the way that the vertical divisions are visible instead of the horizontal ones. Anyways, it is a good product and I will shop for a PST 4-16 soon. Thanks for the support again. |

You can't go wrong with Vortex scopes. I have a 1-4X as well and it is fantastic. I've never had any issues with it at all.
The only reason I am commenting on your thread is to say that I also have the 4-16X scope on my .308 AR and it is a great scope as well! If you can afford the price jump, try to make sure to get the First Focal Plane (FFP) rather than the Second Focal Plane (SFP) scope. Your mil-dots will be equally effective on any power that way. It is very useful, especially for long shots. Good luck! |

Speaking with Vortex on the phone is a pleasant experience, as well. You don't get bounced around, you don't have to repeat your questions to 4 different people, and there's no sound of someone flipping through a book to find an answer. They know their products. Mark H. |
