Hey guys, this is probably a stupid question but I just acquired a new optic and would like to know the proper procedure on mounting it.

Its an EOTech EXPS2-2 with the factory QD mounting system.

Do I push the optic forward or back on the rail system before mounting? (Forward meaning towards the barrel)

I've always pushed the optic forward but never knew if this was the correct way.

Thanks

As far forward on your upper without interfering with your hand guard or rail. You can play around with the forward T-Marks and see what suits best

I think the OP is asking about seating the optic forward or backwards in the rail slot. If so it doesn't matter where on the rail he places it as long as it is seated forward in the rail slot before tightening and then zeroing.
