Can it be knocked out of alignment?
I dropped my M4 4moa last night from about 3ft, and it hit the floor pretty hard.
My eyes aren't so great up close but it looks like more than just a red dot to me.

A little bit like a starfish

Dropped mine before on concrete, still works great.

I would hope it could take a drop from 3 feet onto a hard surface. They are supposed to be tough.

It could be your eyes, so check the dot oustide under the sun or poimt at a wall then turn flashlight on the wall. I dropped mine many times up to 3feet with no issues.

You need to watch the Daniel Defense M4 carbine video.

Dropped from a helicopter sir, off by 2 moa

Thanks. Yeah I seem the chopper drop.

I'm thinking my because my eyes are losing near vision capability it's blurring the dot.

I put it back on the rifle and it was 1/3 lcw with my buis.

All my red dots do that, its our eyes.  Look at the dot through the small aperture of your rear sight, should make the dot nice and crisp.  From what I understand its called an astigmatism.

This.

Yes I think that is the issue, it was coincident with the drop.

Old eyes suck.

Thanks again, I think I feel better

Just don't drop it on the knob. It will break the fuck right off!

Good thing is Aimpoint will fix it for free. Takes about 8 to 9 weeks on the return.

Good to know they fixed it for you, I haven't beat mine up to much yet just a few bumps against walls for 3-gun. Aimpoints kick ass they're tough considering what they are composed of!

FWIW, I have several Aimpoints (T1 and M4) that I have thrown downrange, bounced off concrete, tossed against walls etc, put them back on the gun and shot them with no loss of zero (of course I also use Larue mounts) or function.
I have thrown my carbine onto the deck, into puddles and such, with no issues. We used to do it at the beginning of each carbine class.
Darryl Bolke, who is an Aimpoint pro staffer, has one he has thrown well over 150 times.

It is, like the M4, a ruuged item and not something that needs to be treated like a baby.

If your particular optic won't take that abuse you should consider a change.

The Comp M2 had a fragile switch, but that has been out of production for a long time.

Thanks for the reassurance. Mine is also mounted  on a Larue.

For bore-sight, should I just align the dot to the BUIS?
