I think I've decided on the Vortex Viper PST 1-4 MRAD. I am leaning toward American defense over a Larue for cost reasons, but I don't know which model to get. I'm thinking maybe along the lines of a QD mount, but that's not set in stone. Here is the rifle it will be goin on... Any suggestions?

I have two Viper PST 1-4x24's one in an ADM Recon X mount and the other in the standard Recon mount. I like them both but would probably recommend the standard Recon mount as I think the extra inch of forward cant is not needed. The ADM mounts have been great and return to zero when removed and reinstalled.
I'd love to get a Larue mount, but if I drop @ $500 on the scope I just don't think I could swing the extra cost for it at the moment. The one thing I'm not really sure about is the type of mount I should get, as far as the position of the scope. Is it better with the PST to have it more forward or at the back of the receiver?
Disregarding brands, I have and used both a 3" and 2" forward cantilevered mount for my scopes on AR platforms. For the scope mentioned above I prefer the 2" forward cant mount over the 3" as it just is not needed in my opinion and the 2" version is usually cheaper anyway.
I buy mounts proportional to the cost of the scope. So as much as I love my LaRue, I wouldn't buy one for the Vortex. I'd go with the Burris P.E.P.R. It is very solid. Aero Precision sells an ultralight one-piece mount for $79 on their site. No QD option. But if weight is a concern, check it out.
