First post here on the site & glad to be here!!!! I'm former Army Guard here in Oklahoma (88M, but was mainly a M240 gunner for our PLS systems, which makes you a wonderful target :) ). Also used to be ranked in the Jr. NRA back in the late 80's, went I went around the country and competed with my trusty AR-15. So enough with my shooting history...

Anyway, I have been looking at optics and to be honest, going back for a masters degree... I can't afford too much. I currently have a $150 UTG 3-9x32 scope that I have zero'ed dead on from 250 on in (put a hole through a quarter a little over 165 yards). BUT I really would rather have an EOTech, close quarters. I am working building a Remington 700 from an old junker so I'll have a long range rifle soon.

As for the EOTech, of course, I can't afford to spend $450-800 for a sight right now. Looking around, I really like the look (played around with one recently) and the price of the Sightmark Ultra Shot Sight (QD Digital Switch). Amazon sells them for just under $90.

I've read great reviews and not so great reviews about this sight so I was wondering if anyone has one or has used one and what your experience might be with it. Again, playing around with one recently it seemed like a nice replacement or alternative from the EOTech line. Thanks for any input and again, glad to be a part of this forum!

Dont trust the poi when switching between reticles, They will not be the same and will also be different even returning to the same reticle due to the cheap locking mechanism click between reticles. My illumination knob broke after one trip to the range. Buy a vortex sparc or primary arms micro dot instead. I use aimpoint pro's on two of my rifles now and couldn't be happier. I suggest you save a little longer and get the aimpoint. At ~350 shipped you cant beat it.
