Hi I just finished my first AR15 build and I need some help finding the best scope mounting option. This rifle was built with a Spikes Lower and a fixed A2 buttstock with a RRA 20" A4 National Match Flat Top upper. It's pretty heavy, and because of that I don't want to go with a Larue mount, I just want some simple light weight rings. I love the Larue mount (and similar designs), I have one on my Colt 6920, but for this rifle I don't need quick detach and I want to keep the weight down as much as possible.
The problem is, I'm not sure what rings to get that will be the correct height, and also light weight but durable and won't loosen up with use. If you can link me to a set of 1" rings that would meet those criteria for an AR rifle I'd really appreciate it. Thanks |
| These rings from TPS are supposed to be some of the lightest ones out there, they put the centerline of your scope at 1.4" above the top of the receiver which is about right (the standard Larue is at 1.5"). |

Thanks for the reply. I actually found these Nikon P-Series Rings/Mounts. I hadn't decided on a scope or rings yet for this new rifle I just put together and I was browsing around the gun store and saw they had the Nikon p-223 3-9x40 w/BDC and these P-Series 2 piece mount setup for a good price so I went ahead and pull the trigger on the scope and mounts. They are light and seem fairly solid. I'll take the setup to the range to do some testing tomorrow hopefully. Nikon P-Series Rings |
