Anyone have any recommendations for a fixed rear iron sight?  I was looking at the Troy or DD models but can't decide.  Any recommendations or other brands I should look at?  Any and all help is greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Chopped carry handle is a good choice

If you are asking me, I like DD's fixed rear sight.

I also have RRA's rear sight and like the hex screws over the large knob on the removable carry handle.

LMT fixed irons.

LMT irons are probably the coolest or get an actual A2 carry handle.  Spikes carry handles, when the are in stock at AIM surplus, are a fantastic buy.

I personally wouldn't get anything other than an A2 carry handle for a fixed sight.  If you want to mount optics later, I'd say get a flip up sight like Troy.

DD is my preference. Troy is good too. Chopped carry handles one from having carry handles and having no money. They are heavy and the adjustments are undesirable for use other than at matches.

Take a look at Midwest  Industries. They have them on clearance.

I was going to suggest DD or Troy, too.  I have, and am happy with, both.  The Larue fixed rear BUIS looks nice, too, but is heavier than necessary.

Bahh...now I'm even more undecided!  Does anyone have any experience with multiple rear sights and can give a pro's and con's of each?  Now instead of choosing between DD and Troy...I added LMT on to the mix!  Thanks again everyone!

The LMT is like 1/4 pound and the knobs can be turned accidentally. The DD is like 1.3 ounces and it doesn't adjust itself.

LMT looks a lot more expensive as well so that one is out of the picture.  So now...DD vs. Troy?  Thoughts?

I have the Larue QD fixed rear and it's great.

I used Troy fixed sights before and love them. Would buy again.

I ended up going with the DD Fixed rear sight.  We'll see how it goes!  Thanks for all the help everyone!

LMT, or LaRue. I have had 2 DD sights and I either can't get them to zero, or when they do zero, the rear aperture is all the way to one side. In both cases I use a different sight and the aperture is in the middle, with the DD it ends up all the way to one side. So its got to be something in the way the DD was made.

Interesting.  I was thinking of trying one.  Has anyone else noticed this?

+1 for the Larue.

Huh.

I don't use a fixed rear sight anymore now that I have an optic. But I had the DD and mine zeroed fine and wasn't pushed all the way to one side at all. Two though seems to be too much for coincidence.

Hmmm...

OP: I liked my DD. Nice and sleek, no knobs to catch or get out of whack and nice and light as someone said.

Cheers!

I have a DD fixed front that requires the rear to be drifted way to one side, and it doesn't matter which rear sight I use. I think there is something in the mounting of the DD sights, as I've heard several similar complaints.

Boy, I sure like having elevation adjustments on a fixed rear sight.. +1 for carry handle (chopped or not).

+1 but I like Laure as well.

ETA: I have a carry handle from BCM which is the best imo when not using optics.

I agree with the statements on the DD sights.  I like mine but it does have to be cranked way off to the left side to zero, but it still works and the price is good.

I run irons only right now and use LMT front and rear. I've never had the elevation or windage knobs accidentally turn themselves during the course of all my drills and transitions. Just FYI. Plus, mine return to zero perfectly after taking them on and off.

I've experienced accidental re zeroing of both A2 and Matech sights on at least three occasions. I currently refuse to buy sights that can be adjusted without tools.
