Do any of you that own the Vortex SPARC find yourself wanting a lower brightness setting even on the lowest daytime brightness setting?
I recently acquired one and find that the night vision setting would make for a perfect lowest brightness setting if coupled with the daytime button. On an overcast day, I have found that the lowest daytime brightness setting is overbearing and could be reduced further. Since I have not looked through another SPARC, I have nothing to compare mine too. Btw, I love this little sight so much, I have two more on order Opinions would be appreciated, Q |

I went through two sparc's, and that was why I sold them. Way too bright on the lowest setting.
If Vortex could fix that issue along with the crapy on off buttons, they would hit a home run with the sparc. I really liked it except for those two issues. I would even pay another $100 for one again if they fixed those issues. They seem to be every owners biggest complaint. |

Agreed on the brightness. I find myself using the highest NV setting unless I'm in really bright sunlight. The higher settings are completely useless. I guess if I were in combat or competition the setting would be good for really fast acquisition, but I mostly just shoot steel at 50 yards or so and nothing too fast.
Even so, I do like the 2 MOA dot more than the 4 MOA on the Strikefires. The 3 MOA dots on the Primary Arms Micros are pretty good and you can get lower brightness. The other problem I've had with the SPARC is when the battery gets a little weak. They really act funny -- won't turn off or turn on and off after each shot. |

I thought the same thing about my SPARC. I got rid of it for different reasons though, mainly my astigmatism....actually having a lower brightness setting may have helped the dot not "flare" so much. All in all though I thought the SPARC was a killer little red dot for the money.
I ended up replacing the SPARC with a Vortex Viper PST 1-4X. It's an amazing scope and my accuracy improved tremendously since I started using it. I love it. Just like the SPARC though, I wish there was a dimmer setting between the daytime and NV settings. |

I have the same problems with the SPARC as others have stated.
Its much to bright and the buttons are HORRIBLE. The NV button is where the power button should be. For that matter.....DITCH the NV button and settings all together. Lets face it....if you can afford NV optics, then you aren't going to be using a Vortex SPARC as the primary optic anyway. Replace the NV button with a better POWER button and give us a couple dimmer options and I would consider it a much better optic. I still have one, but I use it on my M&P 15-22. Works fine for rimfire accuracy. I did buy the Primary Arms MD-06 for my daughters 15-22 and I like it BETTER than the SPARC.....and it was less than HALF the price. |
