Rifle is built, running a BCM 14.5 + 1.5 comp. I have some cheap magpul buis on the way but am now ready to buy some optics.

The items I have been looking at.

eotech xps2-0 ($500)
Sightmark SM14002 Ultra Shot Pro Spec Holographic NVC QD Reflex Sight ($150)

The rifle will be used for 25-50-100-(200??) range shooting, and home def if it ever comes too that. I would prefer something that has quick target acquisition and will still reach out at touch a paper target on the weekends.

My price limit is about $600 but I would prefer not to spend that much unless it is really worth it, on the other hand I want something that is going to work every time I need it and has good build quality.

Thank you for any advise you can provide, and if I can answer any questions to better help please ask!

If your budget is up to and including 600 dollars a sightmark should not even be a consideration. Go with the eotech or look into some of the aimpoint optics. I bought the exact sightmark you listed because I needed a temporary optic while I saved for a better one and I ended up taking it back because it was junk and putting the money towards my current optic (Burris MTAC) and just used my irons till I had the rest of the cash.

That is about what I figured, I have looked into the aimpoint's but I dislike the single dot.

I am in no rush and I can make due with the buis and crappy 3-9 scope I have for now.

I was wondering if you have compared any Aimpoints or EOTechs vs. each other? (your 2nd post dislike of single dot Aimpoints)

I have never seen either in person no, I have bad vision and a snigle red dot does weird things to my eyes.

if your eyes are not good and plan to shoot up to 200 yards...i would suggest a varible scope.
take a look at the burris mtac....it is a popular budget varible scope among the 3gun crowd.  if you end up moving to something else...someone will surely buy it from you at a used price point.

I like my EOTechs (own 551, 552 and a 552/xr500)...and I actually started out with these. I also own 5 Aimpoints (own M3, two M4s's and two T-1's) YMMV, but I actually have found the AP's to be more to my preference. (after many thousands of rounds with both)
If nothing else I can only suggest to continue doing your research on what you are considering buying. If you get a chance..it might also be a very good idea to compare each of these brands in hand (range / gun shop) as there is a difference IMO.
Good luck on the optics-
