I just recently bought a pair of troy BUIS from someone offline, and now I'm having trouble installing them properly. It seems it should be pretty straight forward, but hasn't been as smooth as it should be.
For the front sight: Regardless of how tight the screw is clamped, the sight is free to rotate and locks in properly. At the point where tightening of the screw begins, the front sight slowly begins to rise off of the rail(with sights folded down). When I say rising, I mean the point closest to the rear of the rifle on the sight, is rotating upwards with increasing angle as the screw is tightened. The only point that this angle is 0 degrees and it is flush with the rail is right at the point when the screw is in all the way, but tightening hasn't began yet. For the rear sight: When fully tightened down, the sight is locked in place and unable to fold. Also when fully tightened, the locking pin is not engaged, and won't engage until the screw is losened to the point right before tightening begins. This is also the same point to where the sight is able to freely fold. Am I doing something wrong? Or are my sights potentially faulty? Thanks |

Here is the front sight with the screw hand tight. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8529/8521659665_9725fef5c4.jpg Here is the front sight tightened to what I would say is where it should be tightened to. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8092/8521659587_c696a3f019.jpg On the rear sight, I noticed this bit of wear. This portion is the part that would be facing the UR when the sight is folded up to an angle of about 80 degrees http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8093/8521659517_3035d7c63a.jpg |
| I bought them from a seller on eBay. It would nice if it there wasn't anything wrong with them so I don't have to go through the whole return process. Plus i was planning to shoot the rifle for the first time in a few days. They were sold as used with the seller rating them at "90%+ easily". That's with 100% being factory new, and 0% being unusable. |

Are there any contact points in specific I should be looking at? Or is there a "proper" way to install these on? There is nothing special about installing the. Looks like the Micros size as well. Post a pic of the complete rifle. You probable will want standard height sights. |
| i say fake, I learned in another thread, and my troys hold true, that the top will say "Cage Code ----" the bottoms will say lot #, logo, etc. the letters are to big also. I have "H.k. style" sights, but the side view of mine is smooth, yours is textured, although the true blue sights MAY be textured also, we'll see if someone knows, but my H.k. style sights are smooth. The side view of your front sight is wrong. its hard to explain but on the right side view, the right hand side of the sight has a triangular shape in front, right, top, corner. At the top of that triangle on a true blue troy its really a point, yours has a very short flat spot. Also in that same area, to the right of the tightening screw, theres very little aluminum (on real). On yours theres more then there should be. Furthermore that screw has to wide of a slot, Troy's are fairly skinny slots and much deeper, which makes them much easier to tighten w/ (i imagine). the large hole in the rear sight also has no, or little chamfering when you look at it from the front (opposite side then when you shoot w/ it) also the packaging is a whole other thing, but he did buy used so there goes that... For some reason though I would think those would attach better and you would think they could still work... any luck yet O.P.? And guys do we know where these even originate from? has me curious. |

Not the best pic, just a crop of a pic I found on my PC. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y98/slyhuntr/Troy_zpsc67a592f.jpg good pic, but wth. to the right side of my tightening screws (front and back, h k style) I have almost no meat. my cage code is 3ez11 and lot # 14832. One of you guys must have some w/ less aluminum to the right of the tightening screw right? Must be a change on there part at some point. My screw is different also as described above. what the heck. |
| Well I emailed the seller asking for a refund, so we will see what happens. The reason I told them was due to it not installing properly. In the event they don't want to, that's when I'll pull out the part on how it's a fake and there will be more room for action. either way it sucks, I payed $160 so something will be fixed with this. |

Good luck and I hope you get the refund. Also try to take more better picture with it on and off the gun with top, bottom, and side pics for everyone.

***UPDATE***
I contacted Troy today, and sent them multiple pictures of the sights, as they requested, in order for them to authenticate them. Within 5 min, I received an immediate response back saying: Good Afternoon David, Unfortunately, the sights are not authentic Troy sights. Would you be able to provide information as to where they were purchased? Thank You, So apparently Troy is pretty interested in pursuing this in regards to copyright infringement I would assume. I'm going to give the person the benefit of the doubt here at the beggining, and it always could be possible that they didn't know they were fake. If they don't want to settle this, I plan on pursuing this fully with both eBay and Troy. It really sucks cause I was supposed to go shooting this Wednesday, but that looks like it has fallen through now. |
