UPDATE Problem solved! It was a lighting issue that was easily corrected by using natrual light vs indoor lighting. Thanks for the help!
Hello, I just received a new Vortex Sparc and have a question about it's preformance. When I look through it I see a small red glare in the upper right corner. It's like a halo, but only in the 12 to 3 O'clock position. My Sparc is turned down to it's lowest setting. So, is this normal? I realize it's a "budget" optic, so I don't know what I should expect, but my Aimpoint Pro and T1 don't do this unless their turned up too high. I don't expect the same quality as the Aimpoints, just curious if this is a normal condition or a problem in my budget optic. Here's a pic, I could only get it in the photo at an angle, but looking with my eye I can see it at all times. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l303/RickDel73/photo1.png http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l303/RickDel73/photo2-3.png Thanks - Rick |

You're getting a glare from multiple light sources inside. |

WOW, that was some quick responses!!
I can't tell too much from your picture. My SPARC doesn't have a constant halo but in certain firing positions you can see I slight red streak of light. It is not constant and difficult to duplicate.
This is constant when looking though the optic, but I could only get it in the pic when I angled the rifle/optic. I'll take it outside tomorrow and see if I still get the same result. Like I said, I realize this is a 'budget optic', which I mounted on a SW 15-22. However, I can only compare it to my Aimpoint PRO and T1, which don't have this red glare affect, so I wan't sure if it was normal for a cheaper optic or not. BTW, I really like this Sparc (would like it more without the small red glare). Anyhow, thanks for the help!! Marshall, I just noticed you were the first to responde. I placed an order with you guys a couple nights ago and I have a few PA items already on the way!! Thanks! |

UPDATE:
I called Vortex and got the same answer provided by 88 Sahara. I went outside and there was no glare (changed the lighting in my house, but couldn't get the affect as natural outdoor lighting). There is NO glare outdoors! Problem solved!! Very nice budget optic!!! And good CS from Vortex! Thanks for the help! |
