I replaced my stock handrail on my Colt LE6920 w/ a DD Omega 7.  I was planning on removing the end cap when I noticed that is seems to provide protection for my gas tube over the space between FSP and Rail.  Is there any significant advantage in removing the end cap?

In order to get the end cap off you will need to either take the muzzle device off along with the gas block and gas tube or you will have to take a Dremel to it. The Omega is designed to be a free float rail with zero modification necessary to the rifle; in other words, "drop-in". Why do you want to take the end cap off? For looks? It is designed to stay in place with the particular had guard. If you want a snazzy looking free float system with the cutout removed, I would suggest cutting down the FSB and installing a 9"+ FF hand guard.

No, I was just thinking.  I remember reading that the fewing things attached to the barrel, the greater the accuray, so I thought about the end cap.  My gut said to leave it as it can't disrupt MY accuracy, I'm not a sniper!  I kept everything stock....I want my FSB as colt has one of the most stable front sites available.  Thanks for your advice!  Definately keeping it.  Don't want to cut or grind anything on this rifle.

I put an Omega on my 6720 and left the cap as-is. There's not reason to take it off and removing it is more hassle than it's worth, even if you cut it off.
