Just got a flattop Bushmaster...never had a flattop before.  What optics should I put on it?  What range are we talking about for the different types of optics (not scopes)?

Thanks!

Do some research. You are asking for advice on an extremely broad range of configurations.

Go to www.Google.com

Type the following in the search field:

site:www.ar15.com best optics for an AR

(or something similar)

Good luck!

The optic will depend on how it will be used.  Want to hunt coyotes a 2-7 or 3-9 scope.  Want to hunt prairie dogs a scope with a top end of 16x or  higher.  Want to hunt varmits at night an illuminated reticle or an aimpoint.  Home defense Aimpoint, EOTech, Trijicon ACOG.  A lot depends on how much money you want to spend.
SWFA.com has a section under riflescopes for AR15 scope combos look there and look on this site at photos of rifles with optics. Be realistic on  your expectations if you dont spend much money you dont get very good stuff.  La Rue mounts if available if not Bobro or GG"&G or AADLAND

Thanks for the advice.  I'm thinking more like home defense but also looking at shooting hogs.  I appreciate the advice on doing the search.  I have used plenty of scopes on hunting rifles but know absolutely nothing about things like Aimpoint, Trijicon, etc.....
