I just got my matech RBUIS in and was going to mount it. The instructions say it MUST be mounted in the rear most slot to ensure range settings and adjustments and correct. The only issue with this is if I mount it in the rearmost site the knob for windage is in the way of my finger to pul the charging handle back. Should I just deal with it or move it up one slot? One slot forward of the rear most spot provides enough room to work the charging handle without any interference. THanks for your input

Maybe try getting one of these?

I would just move it up one slot. Not worth spending $50 on a charging handle unless you just want another one. The loss of a quarter inch of sight radius will not matter.
On a side note if you do ever try a Mod 4 BCM ch handle as above, you will not live without one. |

THanks for your input I'm usually all about the cult of personal preference - but in this case - I'm wondering how exactly you're operating your charging handle that the MATECH is interfering significantly with it? I ask only because... basically the entirety of the U.S. Army is using the standard charging handle/MATECH BUIS set up - in the proper location, and it has not been significantly mentioned in any AARs I've seen or heard of as a problem, among the several relatively well known ones about the MATECH. Granted - moving it forward one notch will most likely not cause you significant problems using the sight. What "technique" are you using, and how familiar are you with the AR platform? ~Augee |

No, I am not installing it backwards. If you use two fingers, one on each side, to pull the charging handle back the windage knob gets in the way on the RIGHT side if mounted in the rearmost slot. Use thumb and forefinger to grasp the left side of the charging handle. It's a much simpler method. Going over the top with two fingers, one on each side, is very inefficient. |
