What are you guys using as replacement dust covers for the Vortex Strikefire?  The OEM overs are a freaking joke.  I assume Butler Creek flip ups are the go to covers...but what sizes?

I think most people don't use scope covers.  I don't.   I carry the gun in a case when not in the field.  when in the field I don't want covers over the lens or in flipped up position.  Maybe different in certain environments, but I doubt you are in one of those..

I'm doing fine with the factory covers. Been using them for 2 years now.

I haven't had a lot of experience with mine yet, but I do know that one of them (I forget if it was front or rear) has a hard time snapping shut all the way. No big deal though, I'm no Navy SEAL.

Just order the ones from Primary Arms w/free shipping.  They work well.

I have been in your shoes, but am actually back to the stock Vortex covers.

At first I was unhappy with the covers, I felt they were too hard to close.  I then went to butler creek 30mm battle caps(the rubber, single piece hinge).  They did not flip open completely and would partially obstruct view.  I then got Butler creek winter caps(the kinds with the clear objective).  Those do not hold close on their own very well.  I then went to the Primary Arms caps.  While these are nice, the springs tend to work their way out sideways and come loose.

Behold...this leads me back to Vortex's.  Vortex's are hard to close...yes.  But they are THICK, and they do hold close, yet pop open reliably and completely when you need them to.  Being that the caps are up and down only when I need to store the rifle, this is fine, I can take an extra 3 seconds to push around the edge a little more.

I took the Vortex caps for granted at first, and after my experimentation, I do appreciate the covers on the Strikefire now.

Closing your scope covers is kind of like putting on your safety.  If you even got to that point, the Firefight is over and you survived!  You now have lots of Time, Period!  CC

Get yourself a Q-Tip and a little dab of petroleum jelly and run a bit of that stuff around the interior rim of the caps.  They'll behave quite well afterwards.  It don't take much, by the way.
