I've been looking for one of these in FDE and I can't find anything.
http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Medium-Profile-Riser-Mount/dp/B003TX2BD4

Also interested in other options on raising this micro red dot high enough to make it useful. Kind of stuck on FDE at this point although I guess I could have it duracoated I don't really feel like doing that.

This is the gun it's going on. Any suggestions on height? I do plan to add a magnifier behind it at some point.

The UTG medium or for that matter any of the UTG mounts only come in Black, I have painted them in the past, Rustoleum OD or FDE then Clear coat, Holds up fairly well, If it gets beat up (Which mine never did) Repaint. Now I just leave them black.

I'm running the Bushnell TRS 25, I have both the UTG 1" and .83", lets me switch around from absolute cowitness to lower 1/3 as my prefferences change.

Not sure which height would be needed with magnifier.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna be having a couple of other things duracoated so I might just go that route with it. I'm not going to be co witnessing any iron sights with it so which do you feel is more comfortable? the 1" or the .83"?

Either will be OK,  the difference is only less than 2/10 of an inch between the two.

this is the 1"

The 1" will alow you to slightly keep your head up while sighting. again, if your planning on using a magnifier you might want to measure the center hieght of the magnifer to find out which mount you need, other companies also make this type of mount in 3/4", that way , once you find out the optimum hieght for both the red dot and magnifier to line up, you only have to buy, and duracoat one mount.

Maybe someone can chime in with the Magnifier measurement, then it would be easy to figure out the best mount hieght.

The 1" mount puts the center line if the red dot at 1 5/8" above the rail and the .83" mount puts it at 1 7/16"

So I did more thinking and I'd like to be able to use the magnifier on boh of my ARs and the other AR has an Eotech sight on it so I'll just have to figure out what the center distance is on that and go from there.

Thanks for the replies.
