So the primary optic I will be running on my AR will be an aimpoint PRO. However, I'm looking for suggestions for what BUIS to run. I shoot service rifle matches and am much more familiar with irons than with the red dot. I imagine I will be more accurate with them too, especially at range. I am therefore looking for a good pair of BUIS that I can flip up if I need to take a longer range shot. I've tried using an aimpoint at longer ranges, and I just couldn't get the precision I needed. Co-witness if preferred, but not absolutely necessary. Thanks.

I see a pattern going on here, I think I may look into the troy sights...

If you're on a tight budget - Magpul MBUS

If you're NOT not on a tight budget - Troy.

You could also look for used Troy sights on the EE here.

So I bought the troy sights, but I'm disappointed that they don't have an elevation adjustment, only windage. Any other rear sights that have windage and elevation adjustments?

I've had good luck with Yankee Hill, not quite as expensive but very good as well.

Troy front and rear folding sights. primary arms will discount one if you buy both at the same time

I use those 45 degree BUIS that are popular in 3-gun matches and I love them. You can buy the expensive ones or get the cheaper ones from amazon.com like I did and they're just about the same quality. There is no flipping of sights to deal with. All you do is cant the weapon to the side, aim, and shoot.

My purposes for the irons are for longer range shots. I figure I will use the aimpoint for speed and out to 200 yards. For longer range shots, or for shooting with more precision, I'd like to use irons. I shoot with irons out to 600 often and have used them at 1000. I feel that I would be more accurate with them over a red dot. However I'd like something foldable but with good windage and elevation adjustment. Thanks.

Magpul mbus are very good at a much cheaper price, and they are very durable. I made accurate shots out to 200 yards with them with ease, don't get caught up in their plastic and they suck. If you must have steel sights then get troys.

I prefer the KAC Micro.  Troy makes a decent sight, but they do not have elevation adjustments.  USMC issues the KAC Micro now and I have been very happy with it.

If KAC's are out of your budget look at a Matech flip up.  If you like the idea of 100% cowitness an LMT rear fixed sight would work well.

I have an SBR for home defense, I use a Troy fixed front, Larue QD rear, and Aimpoint M2.  I like the 100% cowitness it provides for home defense use.

I have the KAC micro on my issue rifle and my MK 12 clone at home.

I have Troy flips on some of my other builds, and they work well for folding under a scope.  They don't work any better than the KAC micros though and the micros have elevation adjustment.
