| What optic are you guys running on your Reece's? |
|
It's Recce.
Mine currently has a NF 2.5-10x32 mil/ZS/etc. I like it a lot, but have just about decided to sell it and get the new Vortex Razor 1-6. I think it is the perfect optic for a carbine like a Recce. Like a T1 on 1x but with the ability to dial up to 6x with phenomenal glass. I wish it was available in mil/mil config and with an 8x top end, but it appears Vortex finally pulled off what all the bigger names have been struggling with for the past couple years. |

I've got a Swarovski Z6i 1-6x24 BRT right now and shopping for another similar scope for a Recce-ish build. Trying to save a little cash, I've been looking at the Leupold VX-6 1-6x24 and Bushnell Elite 1-6.5x24, both of which are much lighter and cheaper than the Vortex 1-6 Razor HD. What did Vortex pull off that the bigger names have been struggling with? Thanks, -Randy |

Vortex brought one to market that is, by all accounts I have read, and by my hands on time with it, outstanding. I actually considered the Swaro as well, and know plenty like it, but Swaro is not for me. I think Vortex nailed the sweet spot with the combo of phenomenal quality and value. But hey, its optics and nobody is supposed to agree. |

It is only like 14.7oz or something, and one of the more inexpensive of the 1-6 group. No BDC capabilities or anything unless you get the more expensive firedot version or whatever. Primary Arms is coming out with a 1-6 as well based on the optisan. |

Recce #1 - S&B Short Dot Gen II (NOT the "Short Dot II") w/CQB reticle, locking knobs
Recce #2 - NF NXS 2.5-10x32 Mil/Mil ZS w/MIL-DOT reticle Recce #3 - Swarovski Z6i 1-6x Gen 1 w/CD-i reticle Recce #4 - Elcan SpecterDR SU-230 1/4x All great optics, honestly couldn't pick one over another. The SU-230 would probably be my last choice only because of its short eye relief but otherwise, solid optic. |

But hey, its optics and nobody is supposed to agree. Gotcha, you were pointing out that Vortex 1-6 came to market before S&B or Premier brought their 1-8 to market. I've seen zero hype for a 1-6 by S&B or Premier? Anyways, I just thought I might have missed something that the Vortex brought to the mix over the Swarovski, Bushnell, or Leupold 1-6 scopes that made it to market earlier. My Gen 1 Swarovski Z6i has been a workhorse. I love that the dot is as bright as an Aimpoint. Admittedly, I've only handled Jamie's prototype/preproduction Vortex 1-6 at a couple 3-gun matches, but it probably isn't for me. I sold my US Optics SN-4 because it made my carbine way too top heavy, and the Vortex is in that same 1.5+ pound weight class. Great glass though! Thanks, -Randy |
