I purchased an Eotech 512 last year and now when I shoot the rifle it shuts off. Has anyone heard of this type of malfunction?

How long before it shuts off? As soon as you shoot or a few hours? Do you have to keep turning it back on?

After a few hours, if the settings havent been messed with, the sight has an auto off feature. If its after a few rounds, something aint right obviously. Sounds like bad connection to me but thats just a guess. Give EOTech a call and they can tell you whats up or they will have you send it in and they can work magic on it.

A sight like theirs should not be doing this just after a year. Unless its been severly beaten all to hell and back.

on the first round. I am in contact with a rep. now but was wondering what anyone else has experienced.   I will advise when all is said and done. This is my 2nd Eotech. I had a 511 that ate batteries like fat kids eat cake so here is round 2. I know many people who swear by these things so I am willing to give it another go around.

Damn. Ive never heard of that. Has to be a problem in connection somewhere I would think. My 512 has had the same AA batteries for a year now. I also use a higher level setting and usually forget to turn the sight off. So battery power on the 512, in my case, has been good. Hope all goes well. Im interested to see how the process goes.

The 512 has had issues with the battery contact/springs. EOTech has supposodly fixed it in the revision F models. They shold be able to fix it for you or send you the replacement parts to put in if you ask. That should take care of the issue bud.

The reticle is flashing/ flashing on and off/ unit turns off during recoil:

  1. This is the low battery indicator. Replace the batteries.

  2. If the batteries are low, the weapon platform may still cause
the reticle to flash on and off, even before the low battery indicator
    takes effect. Replace the batteries.

  3. Replace the battery with Energizer brand batteries. These have
proven to be the most effective to withstanding a consistent amount of
recoil. Many brands of batteries deteriorate faster than others and can
    result in these failures.

  4. Contact Repair & Service.

I had one do that when I switched from a AAC muzzle brake from a flash hider.
Changed back, no more problems

That SOB was LOUD with the brake so...the EoTech and the shooter were getting concussion like a mofo
