I am building another rifle and want an optical sight... My favorite is the Tijicon Reflex and will get that if I dont find an alternative.
It is around $500 and I dont mind spending that but are there any good alternatives for less money?
What is the least expensive "acceptable" sight for an AR15? (edit: does not nessesarily have to be a reflex style sight)...

Since you're talking non magnified optics I would suggest the Aimpoint PRO or a newer EOtech 512/517. I'm sure many of the members here agree, especially when it comes the the AP. I have also heard very good things about Primary Arms for budget optics. This is a pretty cookie cutter answer but the products suggested are worth checking out.

If your looking for an excellent low budget red/green dot check out the Vortex line.....have one on my AR and it has performed above my expectations...comes with a 2x multiplier and AR flat top mount. User friendly, long life battery and performs as good as my old AimPoint at less than half the cost..

I just picked up a Burris MTAC 1-4X for my latest rifle.  Will sight it in on Friday.  It looks like it will do OK as a close range sight at 1X and tolerable at range at 4X, and should be usable even if the battery dies.  Not as compact as a typical RDS by any means.  With the PEPR mount it was under $500.
