Ok so i'm pretty new at this. just replaced my front and rear sights with flip downs and also have an aimpoint pro. I dont feel like spending hrs trying to figure it out on my own, So where do i begin trying to sight everything in. I dont plan on using the rear sight when using the red dot.

Is the Aimpoint already zeroed?  If so, turn the optic on, flip up your sights, and zero your irons to the dot.  That is, adjust the front sight post in the rear aperture so that the dot is right on top of the post.  That will get you on paper at 25 yards.

If nothing is zeroed...
Remove the upper from the rifle and remove the BCG.
Set the upper on a flat, stable surface.
Look through the bore and focus on an object about 25 yards away.
WITHOUT MOVING THE UPPER, adjust your optic so the dot is centered on the same object.
That will get you on paper at 25 yards.

Then zero your irons as I indicated at the top.  Once you are on paper at 25, you can decide if you want a 25, 50, or 100 yard zero (or whatever else).

No need to spend hours. How about ten minutes? Read the FAQ here. Then do a search of this area and find the how to sight in threads. There are several that explain it very well.

Simply zero your iron sights at the range/distance you want.

Simply zero your red dot at the range/distance you want.

Here's a cool video about AR-15 Zeros

Both your iron sights and your red dot are zeroed independently of each other and one has nothing to do with the other. If your sights break then you still have your red dot zeroed. If your red dot breaks you still have your iron sights zeroed. Both are independent of each other.

I personally zero my iron sights at 50 yards. I zero red dot optics at 50 yards. I zero magnified optics at 100 yards. This is just my personal preference at this time.
