Alright, I am new to this forum. I stumbled upon here while looking into sighting in BUIS. I have recently purchased a new gun, the DPMS MOE Warrior, however it is on back order and is still a couple weeks out from getting shipped. Now, I currently have a Remington R-15, with a leupold 3-9x scope, and I am more familiar with rifle scopes than close quarters combat scopes.

Anyways, since I am new to BUIS, I have been doing some research online, and looking into/how to sight in the iron sights. I also want to mount a red dot scope on the rifle, and want to lower 1/3 cowitness the red dot and iron sights. I've looked at HWS quite a bit, and thought about the Eotech, however all their scopes have the circle-in-dot sights, and I think I'd rather have just a red dot sight. From what I can tell, Aimpoint is the most highly recommended red dot sight. The red dot scope I get will be used primarily at 50 yrds, and maybe at 100 yrds. Looking at their scopes,  I have a couple of questions:

For the Aimpoint scopes, the two I have been eying are CompM3 and Aimpoint PRO. I am having a hard time telling the differences between the two, on the aimpoint website. Can anyone tell me more info/differences, or suggest which one may be more suitable for me?

I understand that Larue is the best/most reliable mount for optics. I wasn't sure if the Aimpiont comes with mounts or not. If it does, should I still go with Larue mounts? I want a quick disconnect mount for the red dot, could someone suggest one that would go with the above red dots?

Also, I want to lower 1/3 cowitness my red dot with my A2 front sight. I know sometimes people need spacers with their mounts, and it seems like other times, people do not. I haven't been able to figure out how exactly to tell, and  if I will need a spacer or not. Could use some help here as well.

Thanks in advance for any help given!

That first link was less than helpful, however the second link was quite helpful, thanks.

I'll probably end up getting the PRO.

It looks like the PRO does come with a mount and a spacer... I'm curious if anyone recommends the default aimpoint mounts, or Larue mounts instead?

How often do you plan on taking it off?  If it is a lot, I would lean towards the LaRue.  If you want to save some money, the factory mount works fine.

I personally would look in the Equipment Exchange for a used LaRue LT150 or LT129 cantilever mount.

The pro has less battery life and different internals circuitry.

If you decide to go with the LaRue mount, just order the mount and optic combo from LaRue.  You won't get the original Aimpoint mount that comes with it from the factory in most cases (you'll only get the LaRue mount), but it will be cheaper than buying the mount and optic separately.

For example, I got the Comp M4s from LaRue for $745, which included the $125 mount.  As far as I can tell, you can't get a new M4s for $620 anywhere, so overall this is the better deal.

Ah, did not know that Larue also sold scopes on their site. After looking into it, I'll get the Aimpoint Pro with the LT150. Searching on google, people say that it's set up for the lower 1/3 cowitness. Thanks for the help guys
