Can I use a lapping bar without using a scope bar (aliment bar)? http://www.kokopelliproducts.com/lapp.html |

Alignment bars are very useful when using turn-in rings. Alignment bars can be used with other rings to confirm alignment, but you're not going to be realigning any picatinny ring. Go ahead and use the lapping bar. That spiral groove looks like a nice feature. Mark H. |

Funny thing is that my oldest scoped rifle is a Browning with Browning scope rings and a bar. Most accurate rifle I have ever shot or owned. No special lapping bars or alignment tools have been used. I must be "lucky". |

I've had really good luck with the DNZ ring/base combos... they advertise "no lapping needed", and it seems to be true. Plus I like my money going to North Carolina instead of China. Also, being one piece, the rings cannot be misaligned in respect to each other. With DNZ, whenever I have needed to call with a question, within 60 seconds, I'm talking to a machinist. I'm impressed when I can get answers to questions without hearing someone flipping through a book, or being put on hold multiple times. DNZ, Vortex and Ruger, in my experience are either staffed with real enthusiasts, or they have really good training programs. Nothing good ever comes from a knock at the door? No pizza delivery in your area? Mark H. |
