Right now I have a Vortex Sparc and want to move to an Eotech. I have the Sparc on a riser mount so it gives me lower 1/3 co-whitness and I want te same with an Eotech.
I was told that the Eotech models with the buttons on the side have a lower 1/3 co-whitness while the models with the buttons on the back are absolute co-whitness. Can anyone confirm this? |

EXPS 2 and 3 series have a quick release 7mm (1/3) base; I have the EXPS 2-2.

why would you want a lower cowittness? So that you have more of your sight window available in the event you do not having folding back up irons....the iron sights are not in the view of your optic because they are in the lower 1/3 when looking through the center of your red dot. I don't know if everyone agrees, but IMHO, if you have folding flip up back up sights, it doesn't really make a difference whether you choose absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness...since your not really going to flip up the irons unless your optic fails anyway! |

why would you want a lower cowittness? I read where guys like the 1/3 with fixed sights and absolute with flip up sights. I personally would run my flip up front sight all the time if i had any rds optics. OP if i were you i would buy the eotech exps 3-0. It is night vision compatible and has a lower 1/3 with a quick release mount. |
| It depends on the model... some models have the 7mm raised base and some don't. The 512, 552, XPS, 511, 551 will be absolute cowitness and all have buttons in the rear. The 553 is the exception to this rule... buttons in back but 1/3 cowitness. EXPS, 516, 517, and 556 all have side buttons and are 1/3. |
