Good day people!
I have a target sports tactical 4X32 scope and I really like it so far! Its held a zero and seems pretty solid for a weekend warrior. The only thing I hate about it are the dadgum rails and "fiber optic sight" on top with the huge fin . My question is would it be worth having a guy I found on Clist cut off the rails/top sight with a dremel for $40 then go about finding a way to repaint the finished areas or should I just sell it as is and buy the primary arms scope that is a 3X scope?
I did not know if there was a signifigant difference between 3X and 4X, and I like that the rails are removable on the Primary Arms scope. Any suggestions? http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb60/caliber_9/Gun%20Show/sight.jpg |

I would probably just sell it and get what you want.
It just sounds a bit risky to grind away all that material. I'd be a bit worried that the heat could damage the seal of the lens, perhaps the lens coatings or allow the inert gas to leak out of the optic (would would cause it to fog up). If the guy did a lousy job grinding & finishing then it would be pretty tough to sell. It would definitely be a safer bet to sell it and get what you want. The difference between 3x and 4x shouldn't be enough to bother you. |
