Okay I've tried everything. I've even taken the battery out and measured it with a multimeter. I just can't get the dot to turn on. I've turned it to the brightest setting and installed the battery with the Positive side facing the cap w/o any luck. What are the chances it's dead or I'm just derping all over it? I've never had an aimpoint before so I'm not sure if there's somehow or some way you have to hold your tongue while screwing in the cap.

Also I'm a little curious about a beveled edge on the glass if this is normal? it seems really uneven and almost like a half moon when I look into the optic. I've never owned an aimpoint so I'm pretty clueless if these are typical QC on this product.

Here's a picture of the beveled edge

The front lense is in at an angle (this is normal) that is why it may look elipticle to you. As for the battery it should just be a DL 1/3N and the + (flat sight with the writing) up.

I had the same issue here:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_18/565590_Aimpoint_PRO_DOA.html

I started by just pressing the battery in with my finger & it worked.  Mine would shut off when the cap was tightened or if I pressed it too hard with my finger.

yeah I can't even get it to turn on by manually pushing the battery in with my fingers. I'm going to try another battery, but it doesn't look good. Aimpoint PRO potentially DOA.

Actually after fondling it a bit more I see the problem. It seems there's not a good connection when the battery is centered. I wonder if there is a recent batch that's flawed? My SN is W2864XXX is yours close to that? If you want to PM me I can exchange full SN's.

Can you visualize how it should be contacting, and move or bend things around towards that?.

W2868 here.  I VERY lightly pushed the "flower" looking contacts in with a screwdriver.  I re-checked and it didn't seem to help much.  After that, I pulled out the foam that is in the bottom and put it back in.  I made sure to be careful and tuck it in good.  That worked for me.  So on mine, I guess the foam was blocking the flower contacts OR was squishing its way over the center spring contact (less likely) when it was fully compressed.

I fixed mine by extending the spring upwards toward the battery cap. Works and very bright now. Very happy! I was going to modify the foam but chose to extend the spring and glad I did. Much easier to clasp it and stretch.

after further inspection and the optic cutting off after being on for around 30 minutes I found the problem with mine. I uninstalled the foam and saw that a contact pad was bent underneath it preventing the correct seating of the DL1/3N battery.

I hope that doesn't mess with my warranty as I just bent it back into the correct position and everything is working as should. I'm still a little bugged by the beveling in the glass. I may contact aimpoint regardless Monday and see if it's normal. Seems mine has more beveling than I'm noticing in other tube shots. I can even see a slight wave in it from the outside.
