Hey I have a dumb question but want a answer before a dump a dumb sum of money |
|
The question becomes - what is the purpose of your rifle?
If you have a duty rifle or a defense rifle - one you have to trust your life with - buy the Aimpoint, EOTech, Trijicon. If your rifle is a range gun, hobby, plinker - I think something like a Bushnell TRS-25 or Primary Arms red dot (any of them) is just fine. |
| THanks for the info. Well its just a plinking rifle, But i have always been someone that would rather have something very dependable that will last me a long time. So i may get a aimpoint if i can find one at a decent price. What kind of accuracy can you get at lets say 75 yards? With the 4 Moa |

I run 3 T1's that have seen tens of thousands of rounds, been used in hard use classes and have never had a failure. One has seen thousands of rounds on AK's with a Ultimak and has never missed a beat. It is the only one that I know of that can handle the heat in that role. I have seen others shit the bed under those same conditions.
Pay for quality upfront and you will save money in the long run. |

Like the others have said, all depends on what youa re using the rifle for.
Mine is a plinker/defense. I started out with a Vortex Strikefire and would recommend it to anyone for a great red dot at a wonderful price - lifetime warranty, and fast friendly customer service. Sadly I have severe wanderlust and wanted to have the "best" in the red dot market, so I went to Aimpoint and am very very pleased with my M4s. You pay for the extra quality and it shows in the Aimpoint, but honestly a Vortex would have served the same needs for me as a weekend plinker. My concern was at 3am, hear a crash at the other end of the house - will my Vortex battery be dead - so I went with the Aimpoint and have been happy. |

I was ringing a torso plate while standing with no problem at all. I REALLY want the 2MOA version though, but thats my "gotta have the latest and greatest" side coming out. |

I would like the 2 moa but ill Probably go with either 2 or 4 depending on what kind of deal i can get. Sounds like i will get the a aimpoint, I have a problem.. The problem is I like Great quality.. Can be good and bad at times |

pros do look nice, But i just Purchased a Aimpoint m2 on ebay with mount in excellent condition for 350. Not bad I dont think SWFA has an M2 for 400 on the sample list. It was a display model and appears new in box. I was going to recommend that one in fact. The PRO is also selling with a decent mount for 400 new. |
|
An m2 is a great way to start!
I had the Vortex strikefire, then went to an M2 and loved the quality, battery life, etc. so i started looking at what else Aimpoint had to offer. I wanted a full sized sight (just personal preference) and saw the M4 battery life and was sold :-) Enjoy your M2! You can pick up all sorts of stuff for it on the EE here or ebay - an extended battery cover that holds an extra battery, a nice Larue mount (that also holds an extra battery), a rubber armor cover for it, flip caps, etc. |

The m2 has a 4moa dot, the pro has a 2moa dot. Pro has 3x the battery life of the m2 I think they are manufactured different, but are still the same type of scope as well. Not sure if there are any more obvious differences. Huh sounds like the pro is a better deal to me. THe m2 retails for 100$ more without the mount.... There has to be some kind of difference. If not im feeling like i should have got the pro |
|
I put a $600 (OK, paid $300 when Midway blew them out) R1 Micro on my $150 10/22. Guess you know where I stand.
Insane battery life in the 5 year range.......left on........would be reason enough for me. No need for a kill switch. If you have not viewed the Daniel Defense M4 torture test video, I'd suggest you do so. I imagine you will have no further questions concerning the value of a real AP afterward. Sam |

The Ultimak thing has always amazed me with Aimpoints, especially with how close they sit to the rail. I sold an AK with an Ultimak to a good friend of mine. He topped it with an Aimpoint Comp M4 with a low mount for co-witness. After a few mags of rapid fire, the Aimpoint would get hot enough to burn you. Still works! |

Watch just a little bit of this and it will answer any questions at all as to whether Aimpoints are durable or worth the money.
Of course, this type of durability may be overkill for your application, but if it's quality you want, you can't go wrong. After watching this, I picked up a lightly used Aimpoint T1 off the EE here and so glad I did. Daniel Defense and Aimpoint T1 Torture Test |

Hey I have a dumb question but want a answer before a dump a dumb sum of money I bought my aimpoint in 2001 ML2 4MOA DOT One of the best optics Ive bought. Battery life is outstanding. its rugged and its never faild me. And I will trust it another 10yrs I cant say the same for the EOTECH 551F BTW with the 4MOA DOT I plink tin cans, clays. at the Berm 220Y I woldnt mine having a larger dot myself. One reason why Eotech owners think there optic is faster is the 65MOA Circle It seems Faster to put on taget at CQ than a 1 MOA dot |
|
i bought a aimpoint comp ML3 with larue mount for my first optic, and i loved the battery life but wasnt much on the 2 moa little single dot you get, i sold it and now own a exps2 i just recieved today, and i love the fov, im not sure how the battery life will be, but i only turn my optic on when i, shooting so i should be ok, i love the circle 1 moa dot alot better then the single dot, as well. i prefer eotech but both look fuzzy without my astgmatism contact. |
|
Where is that daniel defense torture video ? That Aimpoint got it's ass kicked and still worked, until it was dropped out of a helicopter . . . the light was still on, but didn't hold zero . . . although they say the barrel bent, not the optic losing zero . . .
