Just got my new EOTech in the mail.  It doesn't work.  Yes I put new batteries in.  Any other suggestions?

Stupid checks here:
1. new batteries?
2. in with correct polarity?
3. pressing hard on the buttons to turn it on?
4. internal battery compartment items are actually there?
5. cap is on correctly?

missed one,
if it is NV capable, I think the EO "remembers" the last setting (been a while for me now).  Is the NV on and you are just not "seeing" the laser?

new or used

This is a very easy fix:

1:  Return it
2.  Buy an Aimpoint
3.  ????
4.  PROFIT

That is all

Keep turning the battery cap until it stops. If it's new, it'll be stiff because of the massive o-ring they use to seal up the battery compartment. It'll be difficult to turn, but there will be a definite stop point that you'll feel.

Not what he asked.

Plus, this is a shitty answer, because he's probably just doing something wrong, and if he's not, EOTech will fix it.

(Also, #4 is probably wrong because EOTechs tend to be less expensive)

Thank you but I was not doing something wrong.  One of the recoil induced shutoff prevention rubber rings in the bottom of the battery case had fallen out.  I ended up finding it in the box.  Thank you for all of you suggestions even though nobody had it right.

Right...when the PRO can be had for $400 and EOTechs are in the $415-425 range...with less battery life....and a sorry warranty.  That's ok though

Good deal.  Glad you got it.  That is one awesome optic.  I once took an EO to my dealer because it was junk.

That thing would not turn on and was a total waste of money.  I almost threw it away it was so crappy.

The dealer flipped the battery around and I realized just how lame I really was

I had to sell that EO with the rifle (my friend wouldn't buy the rifle without the sight).  I wish I still had it.

Usurp...
