So I recently purchased a eotech 512 and it should be here next week, but I have a probably dumb question. What kind of battery's should I be using? I want to keep them in the sight at all times but I have bad experiences with AA batteries leaking in electronics. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Energizer Ultimate Lithium...   Good for extreme weather as well.

Neither lithium batteries (the 1.6v kind, not the 3.7v kind) nor NiMH will ever leak.

Go to Costco and pick up a pack of rechargeable Eneloops. They are very, very cheap (especially considering how many times you can re-use them).

After about a month of use in my 552, I got the "low battery" warning. However, the batteries were fine-about 70% charge. It's just that they have a lower peak voltage than alkalines, so the EOTech will give you the "low battery" warning sooner.

I agree.  After reading post about AA's possibly leaking, I didn't want to take the chance so I swapped mine out with lithium batteries.

When I first got my 552 years ago, I tossed the battery's that came with it and I have only used lithium.
Change them out once a year, never had a problem.
