I have a red dot which looks neat but the mounts are too wide for the common rail system.
Not even sure what gun or mount is required for this red dot.
It is about 1/4 or 1/8 of an inch too wide.
Are there any adapters available that can be used to securely mount a red dot like this?

Knowing which red dot sight you have is most important. Knowing that will determine whether or not there is a 'market' or 'after market' mount for it. I'm assuming that you want it to attach to a picatinny rail.

Here it is
It appears I purchased it to fit an HK but currently have a much nicer red dot on it.
Hate to have it just lying around and would like to maybe put it on a .22 rifle or something.

Aaaahhhh that makes perfect sense. That red dot was made specifically to attach to an HK.

Google the term "HK Claw Mount" and you'll many examples of how optic mounts attach to HKs. There is no reasonable way to attach this red dot optic to a picatinny rail because it was made to attach directly to an HK.

It appears to be an NcStar brand red dot optic. Consider it as a $50 mistake and NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a NcStar optic again. NcStar is complete and total shit and I'm not being picky. They are 100% worthless optics and will inevitably take a crap on you.
