Just Got my Troy BUIS rear sight in. I've got about 20 components to my rifle and sadly, this is the most complex I've had it.  Pathetic...

A couple questions:

1.  Loctite seems to be a thread locking compound, correct?
2.  In the picture below, step 2, I'm to apply the loctite to the "exposed thread".  It could only be in one spot from the picture but, what is the "exposed thread" here?  I don;t see anything exposed.
3.  What is the point of doing this action?  If I don;t what are the ramifications?

After research, it seems loctite 242.  And I guess it shimmies loosed after shooting is the ramification of not using it but, I can't see from that picture where to use it.

I unscrewed the  the 2 parts, put one drop on and screwed them back together, used blue locktite, keeps it from falling off during recoil, is it needed, dont know but I trust troys directions

The first member with the reply nailed it.

Yes, take the mounting screw out, make sure you degrease the threads on the screw and hole of the clamp first then let dry.

A drop of blue Loctite at the far end of the mounting screw thread, assemble per Troy's instruction, then let dry for 24 hours before using.

The number 2 picture is wrong, probably the illustrator's fault but was not caught during the approval procedure.

There are plenty of members here that didn't use Loctite on their BUIS and it usually falls off.
