Kinda seems like you would loose the field of view that you gain from using a RDS type optic. His entire right side (of shooter) view is obstructed. Also, I dont know how much Eotechs weigh but it seems it would give a twisting unbalanced feel.

The scope would block out way to much of your field of view to make it worthwhile

Probably using what he has available to the best of his abilities to fit his particular needs. I bet if the guy knew about and had the money to get it, he'd have a T1 or other MRD in an offset mount. But since it was probably hard enough to get the EOTech ITAR restrictions being what they are, he's probably making due with what he's got.
