| I recently purchased an aimpoint pro rds and was considering purchasing the aimpoint 3x magnifier. My question is do u guys think the magnifier is worth price and if so which mount would you prefer the aimpoint twist mount or a flip to side mount? |

personally, I really like the 3x magnifier so I can see better at moderate to long range. The magnifier adds good detail for the price - see if botach still has the $385 offering - great deal. It effectively replaces my need for an ACOG.
AND, I would say do not waste time with the Aimpoint Twistmount (unless you can get the botach deal) - I think the Aimpoint Twistmount is stupid. It is just a different way of removing the 3x - think of it as a QD mount. You REALLY REALLY want a flip to side mount so you do not have to worry about actually removing the 3x. With the Aimpoint twistmount, you have to remove the 3x - once you twist it, you cannot see through the PRO. |

Here is my advice. I think I am qualified to give it since I have had both magnifiers. I had a true Aimpoint magnifier and a friend turned me on the vortex vmx III, it is really really nice and is really worth more that the $129 that it sells for. You can save yourself that extra $300 or so and spend it on a really quality mount. I sold my true Aimpoint for the Vortex and never looked back. I also has the twist off and never really liked it and got a flip to the side and love it! For the flip to the side I would recommend the La Rue LT755. I absolutely love mine. I run my setup behind a Aimpoint CompM4. You can do the Vortex 3X Magnifier and the LT755 for much less than the cost of the Aimpoint Magnifier. The only difference between the Vortex and the Aimpoint is that the Aimpoint says Aimpoint on it. But this is just my 0.02!
