Howdy folks,

I'm gonna order a Trijicon Accupoint TR24 here in the next week or so. It's going on a RECCE rifle, and I was just curious which reticle you fine gentlemen would choose, and why? I've only seen the triangle reticle in person, but the German just looks damn cool. And also what color reticle have you found to have the best contrast against most backdrops? Any insight and experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I think most people will say that the triangle works better for closer ranges (within 200yds), due the german crosshair blocking more of the image.

That would make sense... Is the triangle reticle suppose to be used as the point of the triangle is your point of impact, or in the middle of the triangle?

Correct, the tip of the triangle should be point of impact for about 50-200yds

That link helped a lot! I think you all have me leaning towards the Amber Triangle on the TR24.

I strongly prefer the German #4 cross hair. I find it much more precise than the triangle, and the illuminated dot is the same size as an Aimpoint at 1x.

Amber is the brightest cross hair color, while green is the brightest triangle color.

If you can wait till SHOT 2012, rumor has it that there will be more reticle choices released in the Accupoint lineup.

Ugh, thats almost 6 months away.  If there are more choices on the way, when would they be publicly available ?

Most things don't hit the general market for 6-9 months after SHOT.  At least in any quantities.  I looked at Trijicons website the other day and they are quoting 12 weeks on scopes.

On the original question, I really like the horseshoe reticle.  It give you a good close range CQB type and the dot give a precise aiming point.  Not sure if that one is available on the scope you want.  I also like amber for color.  I was all excited about getting one in green, but have tried all 3 and my old eyes see amber the best.  I have tried it in several environments, and it works the best for me.

You really need to look at the colors yourself before you decide.

The horseshoe reticule is not available for the AccuPoint, unfortunately, as it would really rock.

Through my line of work, I can get a really good deal straight from Trijicon on their stuff, the only catch is, when they come out with something new, It won't show up for me to get the discount on it for probably another year.
